Activate Games Tustin is one of the few places our whole family is happy to go back to again and again. We have now been four or five times, and it keeps holding up. This Activate Games Tustin review covers what a session costs, why 90 minutes is the sweet spot, how the coin rewards and leaderboards work, and how to plan a visit with kids.
Our very first Activate visit was at the Buckhead location in Atlanta, which is how we found out about it. Now when we are in Orange County, the Tustin location is where we go.

- Best value: the 90-minute session, in our experience
- Minimum age: 6, and kids under 13 need an adult in the building
- Rewards: you earn coins for winning levels and ranking up, then spend them on extra game time or merch
- Why we keep going back: friendly staff, a polished facility, and new game variations that keep repeat visits fresh
What Is Activate Games?
Activate is like stepping into a video game. You check in, tap your wristband, and move between themed rooms. Each room has its own set of games, and you pick a difficulty level on the screen outside the door. Then you run, jump, dodge lasers, hit targets and solve patterns to score as many points as you can before the timer runs out.
Games are built for groups of 3 to 5 players, though 2 works fine. Larger groups split into smaller teams, which is easy to do since everyone moves between rooms on their own.

Game Rooms and Variety
The Tustin location has 13 game rooms, including Grid, Hoops, Scan, Mega Laser and Portals. Every room has multiple games and difficulty levels, so you will not run out of things to try in one session.
- Grid: a light-up floor where you step on the right tiles and avoid the wrong ones. It is a family favorite and gets really competitive.
- Portals and laser rooms: dodging, timing and moving fast without touching anything you shouldn't.
- Target and reaction rooms: hitting lit-up targets as fast as you can while the score climbs on the side screens.
- Memory and pattern games: these slow things down a bit and are good for catching your breath.

On this visit, there were some new game variations and options in rooms we had already played. That is a big reason the place stays interesting for repeat visitors. Even familiar rooms feel different when there is a new mode to try.

How Activate Rewards Work: Coins, Ranks and the Leaderboard
This is the part that keeps our son excited to go back. Activate tracks your play on a player profile, so your progress builds over time instead of starting from zero each visit.
- Coins: you earn coins by winning levels, completing objectives, earning badges and ranking up. Higher ranks bring more coins.
- Redeeming: coins can be spent on extra game time or merchandise. After a few visits, we could have redeemed for things like an extra 30 minutes, a water bottle or a basketball.
- Personal wristband: our son used his coins to get his own wristband, so he no longer uses the standard wristband everyone gets at check-in. It is a small thing, but for a 10-year-old it is a big deal.
- Ranks and leaderboards: your scores and ranks show on your profile and on Activate's global leaderboard. There is also a leaderboard screen on site, and a Global League for players who want to compete more seriously.
Since every player has a spot on the global leaderboard, your profile is not tied to one location. If you visit Activate in another city, it is worth logging in with the same account.

Pricing: Why 90 Minutes Is the Best Value
On this visit we paid $40 per person for 90 minutes, which came to $120 for the three of us. That is about what we have paid every time.
- 90 minutes is our pick. It is enough time to play most rooms, retry the ones you want to beat, and still not feel rushed.
- Shorter sessions go fast. Between walking to rooms, waiting for a free door and reading game options, an hour disappears quickly.
- Pricing is per session, not per game. Play as many games as you can fit into your time.
- Book ahead on weekends. Walk-ins are welcome, but a booking holds your spot. A deposit is collected when you book and the balance is paid on arrival.
Prices vary by location and can change, so check the Activate Tustin page before you go.
How the Tustin Location Compares
Having started at the Buckhead location in Atlanta, we have a good point of comparison. Tustin feels like one of the better-run Activate locations we have played.
- Clean, modern facility: the hallway lighting and room design are sharp, and the space never feels cramped.
- Equipment works: we have had very few technical issues across our visits.
- Smooth flow: rooms turn over quickly, and we rarely wait long for a door.
Staff and Overall Experience
The staff has been friendly and helpful on every visit. Check-in is quick, they explain how things work for first-timers without slowing everyone down, and they are easy to find if a room needs attention.

Age Suitability and Tips for Kids
Activate's minimum age is 6, and kids under 13 need an adult in the building for the whole session. Activate says the games are designed for adults and can be hard for kids under 10. In our experience, elementary-age kids who like to move do great, especially on the easier levels.
- Dress for movement. Wear athletic clothes and closed-toe sneakers. You will run, jump and crouch.
- Bring water, but know the rule. Water bottles are allowed but have to stay in your locker, so plan quick water breaks between rooms.
- No outside food or drinks. Eat before or after.
- Mix intense rooms with easier ones. It helps kids (and parents) last the full 90 minutes.
- Start on lower levels. Winning early levels builds coins and confidence, then you can push harder.
Where to Eat Nearby
Activate is at The District at Tustin Legacy, a large outdoor shopping center with plenty of restaurants within walking distance. After this visit, we drove about five minutes to The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill in Irvine for big gyro and kabob plates. If you are in the mood for something different, Rice N' Spice in Anaheim is Orange County's only Sri Lankan restaurant and one of our regular stops.
